Citizenship and civic duty

There is more to being a citizen than it just being a legality. For example, if you are a citizen in the United States you automatically have the right to vote in elections. If you have a U.S. passport it allows you to travel overseas. In order to work with government agencies it is required that you are a U.S. citizen. There is such thing as civic duty. Everyday people are doing civic duty. There are so many different examples of it. It is anything from voting to volunteering for a good cause. It is also obeying the laws or serving in the military. Some people are not very involved in civic duty but I believe that if you don’t do your part then you are not being a true citizen.
